Bio-Fuel, Methane from Animal Wastes
Absolutely you know about global warming. What
do you know about global warming? Global warming is the rise in the average
temperature of Earth's atmosphere and oceans since the late 19th century and
its projected be continued until now. It’s caused by green house effect. Like
green house, the heat that transfer to earth can be reflect to outer space
because of heat trap. The cause of green house effect is gases such as carbon
dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and other.
Methane is emitted by natural sources such as
wetlands, as well as human activities such as leakage from natural gas systems
and the raising of livestock. Natural processes in soil and chemical reactions
in the atmosphere are helping to remove CH4 from the atmosphere. Methane's
lifetime in the atmosphere is much shorter than carbon dioxide (CO2),
but CH4 is more
efficient at trapping radiation than CO2. Pound for pound, the
comparative impact of CH4 on
climate change is over 20 times greater than CO2 over a 100-year
periods.
Methane
is a gas that can be collected and burned as a fuel. This gas is produced by
animal waste, as it decays. Some farms collect animal waste and store it in
tanks, processing the collected gas. The resulting methane gas is then compressed
in tanks or containers and distributed to customers. It can be used to heat
cookers, houses and even to power car engines.
The
step to make bio-fuels methane from animal wastes are. First, the cycle starts
with animals on a farm, grazing and producing waste. Second, the waste is
collected on a regular basic. Third, it is transferred to decomposing tanks and
the methane gas is collected and stored.Gases are stored in tanks and
transferred to tankers. It is transported to customers or compressed and
transferred to smaller cylinder tanks.Fourth, the
methane gas can be used for household appliances such as cookers. It can also
be used as the fuel for cars specially adapted to burn methane gas rather than
petrol. These vehicles are less polluting although their speed and acceleration
are reduced.
Bio-fuel will bring big effect for
human kind to reduce effect of global warming, because bio-fuel are made from
animal waste (animals on a farm), significant reductions in crop yields,
and loss of biodiversity. It is produced in the troposphere through
photochemical reactions involving oxides of nitrogen (NOx)
and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).Concerns about climate change and energy
security are driving an aggressive expansion of bioenergy crop production and
many of these plant species emit more isoprene than the traditional crops they
are replacing.We then estimate the resultant changes in ground-level ozone
concentrations and the impacts on human mortality and crop yields that these
could cause. Our study highlights the need to consider more than simple carbon
budgets when considering the cultivation of biofuel feedstock crops for
greenhouse-gas mitigation.Some
studies have shown that in some cases more carbon would be sequestered by
converting a cropland used for a biofuel feedstock to forest than the
production of the fuel itself.So we can conclude that making biofuel from
methane is the best way to decrease the global warming cause.
